The Costa Verde Project is an integrated commercial forestry (eucalyptus and native hardwoods), agroforestry (heart of palm) and conservation (Atlantic forest) project. It combines multiple revenue streams for investors, on approximately 6,000ha of land to be purchased on the east coast of Brazil. The project represents a first class investment opportunity, combining healthy returns on investment with creation of jobs in an area of low opportunities for economic development, and the conservation and restoration of Atlantic forest.

  • Project Timeline:  Project Phase 1 (Feasibility & Design) start date June 2009, expected to run for an initial period of 25 years
  • Project Type: Integrated land management strategy incorporating reforestation (A/R)  on degraded land, sustainable forest management (SFM) and agroforestry
  • Location: Southern Atlantic Coast of Brazil
  • Tree Species: The project will use a mosaic mix of native species and eucalyptus
  • Agroforestry:  Heart-of-palm
  • Project Size:  6,000+ hectares
  • Revenue:  Heart-of-Palm, Timber, Brazil Reforestation Credits and Carbon Credits
  • Certifications Standards:  VCS (carbon), FSC (timber)
  • Total GHG Gas Emissions Removal:  Approximately 8,500,000 tCO2e
