Global Green Carbon Positioning for California Carbon Market - The Climate Action Reserve Membership

on 3-Feb-11

Ventura, CA- February 3, 2011-Global Green Carbon Corporation (“Global Green Carbon”, “GGC” or the “Company”) announced today its registration as a project developer with Climate Action Reserve (“CAR”). Registering with CAR, a national offsets program, ensures GGC’s domestic carbon offset projects are assessed under the highest standards for the impending California GHG compliance market, set to launch in January of 2012.

CAR has approved nine U.S. protocols and two Mexico protocols as of February 2011. Forest, U.S. livestock methane, U.S. landfill methane, urban forest, coalmine methane, nitric acid production, organic waste composting, organic waste digestion, and ozone depleting substances, make up the eligible U.S. carbon offset project protocols.

Global Green Carbon, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, OPTIM Consult, is positioned to develop projects and deliver carbon offset credits across the full spectrum of methodologies.

“The Climate Action Reserve brings credibility and transparency to carbon projects being developed in the U.S. and Mexico. CAR provides the structural integrity for the California compliance market to grow, we look forward to working within this framework,” commented Kirsten McGregor, President of Global Green Carbon.

“The Climate Action Reserve has, and continues to address all significant areas of carbon reduction and sequestration processes,” said Juan Lopez, President of Optim. “CAR provides a stable, nationally recognized program, that signals to all stakeholders involved, that carbon offset projects are a viable and efficient tool to mitigation the effects of climate change.”

The Climate Action Reserve (CAR) is a national offsets program working to ensure integrity, transparency and financial value in the U.S. carbon market. It does this by establishing regulatory-quality standards for the development, quantification and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects in North America; issuing carbon offset credits known as Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRT) generated from such projects; and tracking the transaction of credits over time in a transparent, publicly-accessible system. Adherence to the Reserve’s high standards ensures that emissions reductions associated with projects are real, permanent and additional, thereby instilling confidence in the environmental benefit, credibility and efficiency of the U.S. carbon market..” www.climateactionreserve.org
